How to play CFB Grids

CFB Grids is a free daily college football trivia game. Each 3×3 grid crosses schools, conferences, positions, and stats; your job is to name a player who fits every square.

  1. Pick a square where a row and a column meet.
  2. Search for a college football player who matches both categories.
  3. Fill all nine squares, then submit to join today’s leaderboard.
  4. Rarer picks earn a lower (better) score.

FAQ

How do you play CFB Grids?

Every day there is a new 3×3 grid. Each row and column is a school, conference, position, or stat. For every square, name a college football player who matches both its row and its column. Fill all nine squares and submit your score.

How does scoring work?

Each pick has a rarity percentage based on how many players chose the same answer for that square. Your score adds those up, so lower scores and rarer picks are better. Percentages can change as more people play.

Which players count?

Answers come from recorded FBS rosters and box-score statistics from 2004 to today, including transfers and offensive linemen without box-score stats. Each grid’s headers say whether a stat is for one game or one season.

Can I change a guess?

Yes. Before you submit, click any filled square and choose a different player.

Can I play old grids?

Yes. Previous dates are practice-only: you can play them and view their final leaderboards, but practice scores are never submitted.

Is CFB Grids free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with a new grid every day.
